Mini-Hiatus

I'm taking another mini-break. The end of the school year is coming up and as a parent I have tons of stuff to do.  I'll get back on schedule at the beginning of June.

Happy Holidays to all of you! I know I've been slow with the updates during the past 2 months but thanks for sticking with me during this busy time! I have some fun events planned in the coming months and some great new books to share with you so stay tuned.

Speaking of the holidays, the librarians from the Worthington Libraries organize a little event they call "Reads Under Wraps" for the holiday season.

During the month of December, the library elves carefully select some of their favorite books, write a brief — yet cryptic— description, and then lovingly wrap them before placing them on display for the patrons to select.  

My favorite part of the whole event (aside from unloading all my extra wrapping paper on the librarians...) is witnessing the excitement of the young patrons as they read the description on every single book before finally choosing their surprise adventure. What kid doesn't like presents? Where some adults may be reluctant to take a gamble on picking a book sight unseen, the children have enthusiastically embraced the event and experienced yet another successful scheme to encourage lifelong reading. Congratulations to the Worthington librarians for organizing yet another successful event!

Update From My Sick Bed

Sorry no new reviews today. I've been super busy sorting out my reading list and getting ready for Christmas. And then I woke up this morning with the flu and an ear infection. You would think I would spend my sick time reading, but you would be wrong. Instead I'm laying in bed watching "The Lizzie Bennet Diaries" and drinking juice. Tomorrow will be a manga marathon...if I'm still stuck in bed.

Update

Wow, it's been a while since I've updated! I've been busy learning how to do my new job and working on Halloween stuff. I have quite a few irons in the fire but I'm planning on posting a huge update on Thursday/Friday. It will be 2 biographies, a novel, and possibly a snippet of my NaNoWriMo project.

October 18th is Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon

Last spring I participated in Dewey's Readathon for the first time. I participated as a reader and as a cheerleader and I had a great time talking with new people and discovering new blogs. When the date for the fall Read-a-Thon was announced I immediately signed up (as a reader only this time) and then I got busy and forgot about it until yesterday when my calendar sent me a reminder. So I'm bit behind in my planning but I should have my TBR and posting schedule up on the site Thursday night or Friday afternoon. I'm looking at this as a last hooray before I buckle down for NaNoWriMo since I can't read novels while I'm in the middle of the writing process.
