Read-a-Thon Update #4

Posting from my phone again. It's nearly 3am here, I'm tired, and I'm calling it a night.

Completely off topic....I was informed by my daughter that later this morning we're supposed to drive up to my aunt's place to pick up her (and Corbin's) costumes. My super talented Aunt Jan has been making costumes for the kids since they were 3. Nora always comes up with something complicated but every year my aunt manages to make Nora's vision a reality. Corbin on the other hand went from super complicated to super simple.

Those who are still up -- hang in there! I'll be back up in a few hours.

Read-a-Thon Update #3

Ohio State blew Rutgers out of the water AND I managed to finish both biographies. I'm going to go through my usual review procedure for those because my brain is a little muddled right now. I'm taking an ice cream and manga break before I dive into another book.

24-Hour Read-a-Thon Update #2

The new modem is working fabulously! I'm about 2/3 through the Queen Isabella biography and I'm getting ready to take a break for a late lunch and some football. I haven't done many of the mini-challenges but I hope to tackle a few after the game. How is everyone else doing?

4) Tell us a little something about yourself! After being a SAHM for 7 years I went back to work this week. I'm really excited because I'm working for the library system in my hometown.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you'll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to? I don't know what I would do differently from last time. Although this time around I didn't sign up as a cheerleader so I'll have more time to read.

Read-a-Thon Update #1

I'm posting this from my phone so forgive me for all the spelling and grammar mistakes I will probably make.

I haven't done much reading yet because the tech guy showed up at 8:20am to replace the modem and we're still in the process of doing that. Hopefully I can get back to reading really soon!

I started off the morning by reading the new biography on Queen Isabella of Spain by Kirstin Downey. So far it is really interesting.

Pre-Read-a-Thon Post

UGH! My WiFi has been crazy all day so I'm going to try and make this quick before it goes out again.

My plans for tomorrow are to start reading around 8am until around 11am. Any blogging during that time will be brief due to WiFi issues. The AT&T people should be around in the morning to (hopefully) fix the problem. But I do plan to post on this blog and on tumblr throughout the day.

Sometime after 11am if the WiFi is still unreliable I'm planning to head out to Starbucks or the library to read and hopefully post some completed reviews.

At 3:30 I'll be taking a 3(ish) hour break to watch Ohio State v. Rutgers. I may use that time to visit other blogs as well and cheer people on.

After football it's back to reading until I pass out.

I try to have a modest TBR list for the Read-a-Thon as a guide but I am a "mood reader" so I could end up reading all, part, or none of them. 

October 18th is Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon

Last spring I participated in Dewey's Readathon for the first time. I participated as a reader and as a cheerleader and I had a great time talking with new people and discovering new blogs. When the date for the fall Read-a-Thon was announced I immediately signed up (as a reader only this time) and then I got busy and forgot about it until yesterday when my calendar sent me a reminder. So I'm bit behind in my planning but I should have my TBR and posting schedule up on the site Thursday night or Friday afternoon. I'm looking at this as a last hooray before I buckle down for NaNoWriMo since I can't read novels while I'm in the middle of the writing process.
