Speaking of the holidays, the librarians from the Worthington Libraries organize a little event they call "Reads Under Wraps" for
the holiday season.

During the month of December, the library elves carefully
select some of their favorite books, write a brief — yet cryptic— description,
and then lovingly wrap them before placing them on display for the patrons to
select.
My favorite part of the whole event (aside from unloading all my
extra wrapping paper on the librarians...) is witnessing the excitement of the
young patrons as they read the description on every single book before finally
choosing their surprise adventure. What kid doesn't like presents? Where some
adults may be reluctant to take a gamble on picking a book sight unseen, the
children have enthusiastically embraced the event and experienced yet another successful scheme to encourage lifelong reading. Congratulations to the Worthington librarians for organizing yet another successful event!
